The DC2412-UPS convinces as a maintenance-free and integrable solution for the uninterruptible 12VDC power supply. To protect against voltage fluctuations, flicker, voltage drops or failures in the supply voltage, the DC UPS modules are equipped with ultracapacitors (so-called Supercaps) as energy storage devices that work on the principle of double-layer capacitors (EDLC).
Due to the high cycle stability (> 500,000 charging and discharging cycles), the Supercap UPS solutions have a particularly long service life and are absolutely maintenance-free. This means an increase in long-term availability while minimizing the maintenance effort of the supplied system. Due to the compact dimensions, a high power density and the corresponding interface configuration, the integration into a wide range of sensitive applications is possible.
The compact DC UPS modules guarantee the reliable and uninterruptible power supply of DC consumers such as Low-power embedded IPCs, gateways, motors, sensors, actuators, card readers, cameras, security technology.
Supercaps - short charging times, long service life!
For uninterruptible DC power supplies, there are absolutely maintenance-free long-life Supercaps (ultra-capacitors) available as highly efficient and particularly long-lasting energy storage devices with more than 500,000 charge and discharge cycles in the area of short and medium bridging times. In contrast to batteries, which store energy via a detour through a chemical reaction, Supercaps are based on electrophysical principles and are charged and ready for use within a very short time. Under comparable operating conditions, Supercaps have a service life that is up to ten times longer than that of classic lead-acid batteries. Energy storage systems with supercapacitors also impress with their high current carrying capacity, power density and reliability.
The compact DC-UPS module DC2412-UPS is equipped with high-quality 3-volt Supercaps (4x 100F capacity), which are fully charged in a maximum of 60 seconds. The highly efficient design allows fanless 24/7 continuous operation in the extended temperature range from -20 to +70°C.
'Power Sharing' with intelligent input current detection
The system electronics with DC/DC converter provides the nominal 12VDC output voltage in normal operation, charges the Supercaps and monitors the voltage thresholds at the input. If the voltage falls below the defined threshold, the Supercap UPS switches over to UPS backup mode within fractions of a second and provides an uninterruptible and regulated DC voltage supply at the output. The intelligent distribution of the charging currents (PowerSharing) at the input ensures that the upstream AC/DC power supply has not to be oversized, due to the input power is kept constant and is distributed appropriately to the DC load and the Supercap charger. With low load at the output, more energy flows into the Supercap charger and vice versa.

UPS management software 'UPScom' with intuitive user interface
(only in conjunction with µExtension module PSZ-1063)
The software 'UPScom' (freely available for download) allows the connected devices to be shut down and switched off in a controlled manner during a power failure in order to avoid data loss or damage. The responsive WEB UI is called up in a web browser to set and pre-program all parameters of the DC UPS system and for real-time monitoring with state-of-charge indicator. The adjustable parameters include, among other things, load sensor (mA), shutdown delay, maximum backup time, minimum charge capacity before system start, notifications by email.
Cross-platform technology
'UPScom' uses the new WebAssembly (WASM) architecture, which runs in most current web browsers. 'UPScom' runs on x86 compatible systems and also on most ARM-64 based systems under Microsoft® Windows and various Linux distributions.
Secure Shutdown & Reboot function for IPC systems
In the event of a "power failure", the UPS signals the failure of the supply voltage via the integrated USB or RS232 interface, so that a controlled shutdown of the computer system is initiated and valuable data is saved. A script (batch) can also be executed before the system is shut down in order to process your own application-relevant processes. The integrated reboot function of the DC UPS automatically restarts the supplied IPC after the supply voltage returns, without the need for time-consuming on-site intervention by a service employee, e.g. in the case of completely self-sufficient computer systems at inaccessible locations.
Email messenger service
'UPScom' can be used for various events such as loss of connection to the UPS, system shutdown or power failure. These preventative measures can reduce or eliminate downtime.
