Safe failure protection for 1-phase 230VAC applications through automatic switching
The new phase redundancy module PSZ-1086 ensures the uninterrupted operation of an application in the event of a phase failure. Failure protection for 1-phase applications takes place in an all-pole automatic switchover of the supply line. Monitoring takes place via potential-free signal contacts. The module was developed for applications up to 400 W and is designed for operation in a 230VAC network.
The phase redundancy module PSZ-1086 ensures the supply of the AC application connected to the output in the event of a phase failure through automatic phase switching at the input. Every phase failure is recognized and reported via the potential-free monitoring contacts. This enables the phase failure to be rectified before the AC application is affected. This minimizes downtimes. The evaluation of the monitoring contacts can be carried out at any voltage level thanks to the potential-free design.
Functional description of the phase redundancy module PSZ-1086
The phase redundancy module PSZ-1086 has two voltage input terminals (J1 and J4), one voltage output terminal (J2) and one phase monitoring output terminal (J3). For proper operation, please connect two different phase conductors with the neutral conductor to the input terminals J1 and J4 (e.g. J1 >> L1 + N and J4 >> L2 + N). The voltage from one of the two input terminals (J1 and J4) will be passed through to the voltage output terminal (J2). The phase monitoring output terminal (J3) consists of two potential-free contacts, each for one voltage input terminal. They indicate whether an input voltage on the according input terminal (J1 and J4) is present. The terminal J5 is intended for connecting the PE conductor.

Section 1
If the voltage is present on both voltage input terminals, the voltage from input terminal J4 is passed through to the voltage output terminal J2. Both potential-free contacts of the phase monitoring output terminal (J3) will be in closed state.
Section 2
If the voltage at the input terminal J4 is not present (e.g. phase failure), the PSZ-1086 switches automatically to pass through the voltage from the input terminal J1. The potential-free monitoring contact for the voltage input terminal J4 (J3 contact 1 and 2) will be in open state, signalizing the missing voltage at the input terminal J4.
Section 3
If the voltage at the input terminal J1 is not present (e.g. phase failure), the PSZ-1086 keeps passing through the voltage from the input terminal J4. The potential-free monitoring contact for the voltage input terminal J1 (J3 contact 3 and 4) will be in open state, signalizing the missing voltage at the input terminal J1.
Section 4
If the voltage on both input terminals (J1 and J4) is not present, no voltage will be passed through to the output voltage terminal J2. Both potential-free contact of the phase monitoring output terminal (J3) will be in open state.
